Community-Based Research
Research at Appalachian is much more than microscopes and lab coats. In fact, much of our current research focuses on making valuable contributions to the social and economic well-being of our state, region, nation and world. Community-based research is a unique form of learning at Appalachian that directly collaborates with the community to answer questions and solve problems.
Blue Ridge Parkway Research
In collaboration with the Blue Ridge Parkway, ASU students and faculty partnered on a three-year project to improve trail and recreation area conditions.
Students collected valuable community input and implemented strategies to increase visitor enjoyment while preserving the fragile Parkway ecosystems.
