Mission

Administered by the Office of Beautification Programs, Adopt-a-Highway program is a collaboration between community volunteers and NCDOT.  Its purpose is to decrease the amount of litter on North Carolina's roadsides and to improve the beauty and quality of the environment.  This is accomplished by removing and recycling litter from the roadsides and educating the public about the importance of proper trash disposal.

Volunteer Opportunities

• Remove and recycle litter from roadsides.  The group or individual is responsible for the highway for up to 4 years, with at least four cleanups in the year.
