Horse Helpers of the High Country
Horse Helpers of the High Country is a nonprofit organization serving the northwestern corner of North Carolina, including Avery, Ashe and Watuaga Counties as well as Johnson County, Tennessee. In fact, we are the only official equine rescue in the region. Horse Helper's mission is “to help sick, hurt, abused, and unwanted horses and other equine”—providing them an opportunity for a second chance.
Malnourished or abandoned animals (mostly horses, but some sheep and dogs.)
- Farm Work: maintaining the farm anything from putting up or repairing fence, mucking stalls, grooming horses, painting, or helping to build a rock wall
- Help with fundraisers: for example, a group of students to set up a booth downtown during a football game to spread awareness of the program
