Where to Park on Campus
Finding places to park on campus can be a challenge. Below are a few options that may get your visit to Appalachian started a little quicker! The Parking and Traffic Department sets all regulations regarding parking on campus. After 5pm and on weekends, parking in the library parking deck, student lots, and faculty/staff lots is free, unless otherwise posted.
1-Day Guest Parking
If you are visiting a specific department or have other special needs, a 1-day guest pass can be reserved. There is a $5 fee and visitors may secure the pass at the Parking and Traffic Office under the Rivers Street Parking Deck. Please bring your vehicle registration and a photo ID. Contact the Parking and Traffic Office for further information and details regarding this pass: 828-262-2878 before visiting their office.
This pass is good for any non-gated campus lot, and also allows for unlimited parking in the 30 minute spots in the library parking deck. The pass must be displayed on the car's dashboard.
Library Parking Deck
Located on College Street adjacent to the Library, this deck has 44 free 30-minute parking spaces available to the public, Monday - Friday from 7am-5pm. Parking in this deck is free after 5pm on weekdays, and on weekends (unless otherwise posted).
Rivers Street Parking Deck
Visitors may park in the Rivers Street parking deck anytime, which charges daily and hourly rates.
Daily rate is $5, and you must be out by 11pm. Hourly rates: $2/first hour, $1 for each additional hour (up to $5)
Parking on Football Weekends
On football gamedays, most campus parking lots are reserved for Yosef Club donors.
Public parking is allowed in campus parking areas not otherwise marked or gated.
