Appalachian is committed to strengthening the business, economic, and environmental vitality of our local community and surrounding region. A number of academic and outreach programs are partnering with the community to advance entrepreneurship, provide professional training, and educate the leaders of tomorrow. Center for Entrepreneurship

 Business persons The Center for Entrepreneurship provides opportunities for students and community members to learn about entrepreneurship through educational offerings and experiences where they can interact with entrepreneurial organizations in the region and around the world.

 


Appalachian Enterprise Center

Center for Economic Research and Policy Analysis

CERPA maintains research programs in the specific areas of economic development, environment and energy, and public finance.

 

Research Institute for Environment, Energy, and Economics

NC Small Business and Technology Development Center

Specific assistance areas include strategic planning, marketing, financial management, loan application, capital formation issues, and general business management.

 

Western North Carolina Renewable Energy Initiative

 Wind turbineWNCREI raises awareness about the benefits and feasibility of renewable energy in the southern Appalachian region. The program operates a wind research and development facility on Beech Mountain, an anemometer loan program, and host a variety of workshops,classes and community events.

 

 

 

North Carolina Center for Engineering Technologies

north carolina center for engineering technologiesThe North Carolina Center for Engineering Technologies provides facilities for applied research in engineering related fields and serves as a conduit to baccalaureate education delivered by the University of North Carolina system schools. Conceived as a community supported higher education effort in technical and engineering disciplines, this Center was established through a collaboration of business, government and higher education organized as the Future Forward Economic Alliance.
