WNC Renewable Energy Initiative (State)

WNCREI is a public service program, sponsored by the university and the NC State Energy Office, to raise awareness about the benefits and feasibility of renewable energy in the southern Appalachian region.

Research Institute for Environment, Energy, and Economics

Appalachian's Research Institute for Environment, Energy, and Economics (RIEEE) was established in November 2008 to enhance research opportunities for faculty and students whose interests are associated with environmental science, renewable energy and economics.

ASU Sustainable Energy Society

The ASU Sustainable Energy Society (ASUSES) was founded in 1995 with the mission to educate, enlighten, and inform students and the community about renewable energy resources. For three years, ASUSES has been awarded the Farm City Banquet Award for the club's contributions to a clean energy future for this local mountain community

ASU Renewable Energy Initiative (Local)

The Renewable Energy Initiative (REI) is charged with bringing renewable energy projects to the campus of Appalachian State. In an attempt to reduce the university's dependence on fossil fuels, the REI strives to educate the public on the benefits of energy conservation, energy efficiency, and renewable energy.

Appalachian State University Energy Center

Housed within the College of Graduate Studies and Research, the center is an applied research and public service program through which the university makes its resources, faculty and professional staff available to address economic, business, government and social issues and problems related to renewable energy policy, technology and development.
