Appalachian Voices is an award-winning, environmental non-profit committed to protecting the land, air and water of the central and southern Appalachian region, focusing on reducing coal’s impact on the region and advancing our vision for a cleaner energy future.  Through our seven major campaigns we work to end mountaintop removal coal mining, address water and air pollution from coal mining and coal ash storage, stop the construction of new coal-fired power plants, oppose natural gas fracking and pipelines, and promote energy efficiency and economic diversification in the region. We also publish The Appalachian Voice, a free newspaper with a bimonthly distribution of 61,000 across 9 states, which promotes the enjoyment and protection of central and southern Appalachia's rich cultural and natural environment.
