F. Kenneth & Marjorie J. McKinney Geology Teaching Museum

The McKinney Geology Teaching Museum was established in 1998 to supplement the Department of Geology's teaching mission. The museum provides exhibits used in teaching college-level geology courses and conducts outreach to help teachers, school groups, and the general public better understand geologic processes and contemporary geologic events. The museum is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. when the university is in session, however during the semester geology majors are available in the evenings to answer questions from fellow students as well as the general public. To see when the Answersphere" is open, please try the following link:  http://www.geology.appstate.edu/answersphere.htm

The community is also invited to tour the Rock Garden which is always open to the public. The Geology Department is willing to lead tours for classes and other groups with prior notification and upon request.
